What's new with the 6th grade

The 6th Grade is learning how to Type using the program Type to Learn.  This is a fun tutorial with lots of interactive activities built into the software which keeps them engaged with the process.  They are also working on a brochure, which is a cruise of the Mediterranean.  They have 6 ports to visit which the student describes and a point of interest which is also described.  They are naming the boat and the cruise from their own imagination and creating a well designed brochure.

Activity

Grades 3 and  4 are learning about Microsoft Word and becoming quite proficient in it.  They will be able to show their parents what they have learned on the Computer .  Once we explore Word, we will be writing stories and illustrating them.  It will take a while before they will be coming home.

5th Grade has now learned to prepare and present a PowerPoint for their Science Class.  They learned how to find information and present it using all the new Transitions and Animations  available.  They will be presenting another PowerPoint soon about themselves and getting to present it alone.

What we're doing:

Every grade is doing a project or activity.  Check back often to see what different grades are doing.  I will showcase a few at a time.

Right now, the 8th grade is creating their own business; researching logos, sales, design, designing their own business card and having fun.  They will be putting all this information into a PowerPoint and presenting it to their class.  As they create they are also learning how to navigate through the newest version of software.
